Thank you for visiting my blog. I’ve created this for my patients and anyone looking for health advice from an actual Doctor and not just “Dr. Google.”
I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “the eyes are the window to the soul,” but did you know that the eye is the only organ in the body that an eye doctor can directly view the blood vessels and nerves, giving a view of someone’s overall health. So the eye may not only be the most important sense, but also the most important organ when it comes to determining your overall health.
Who am I?
My name is Dr. Stephanie Mulick. I am an Optometrist at the Tayani Institute. I have a passion for educating patients on healthy living to improve their lifestyle as well as overall health. I believe that healthy living comes not just from our diet, but our mindset and activity level.
When I am not practicing Optometry, I am a wife and a mother to a 9-year-old daughter. My family and I enjoy staying active with snowboarding, paddleboarding, hiking, and camping.
It is my goal with this website to share my own knowledge and research as well as the knowledge of my colleagues while learning more every day on my journey to longevity.
I graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry in 2002. I went on to obtain my Doctorate of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2006, where I graduated with honors in patient care. I have my Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agent Certification and Glaucoma certification and have been caring for patients in South Orange County since 2006.
My training was in Optometry, and Ophthalmologic co-management of Cataracts, Glaucoma, and Ocular disease. I interned at the Illinois Eye Institute, the Las Vegas Veterans Hospital, the Southwestern Eye Center in Arizona, and the Eye Center of North Florida.
I care for children and adults, including management of dry eye, ocular infections, ocular allergies, computer vision syndrome, contact lens fittings, and eye surgery co-management.
I have participated in several volunteer vision clinics, including Lions International, Illumination Foundation, and One Sight, to provide eye exams to those in need locally as well as in Central and South America. I have also volunteered at the Orange County Braille Institute’s youth program. I take pride in providing outstanding personalized eye care to meet each patient’s needs.
I am fortunate to work with an excellent group of Doctors, whose specialties include: Cataracts, Lasik, Cornea, Glaucoma, Retina, and Oculoplastics. All of these specialties are necessary to have well-rounded eye care. My profession allows me to thoroughly examine the eye, refer to our specialists when necessary, and improve my patients’ vision with glasses and contact lenses. The National Eye Institute showed that proper refractive correction could improve vision among 11 million Americans aged 12 years and older.
